Crash and burn. These words seem to describe my tennis journey. One day I am up. The next day down. Amazingly, I have the energy and desire to greet each new match with energy and the hope that the game that died may be resurrected with better results.
There is a bigger theme of resurrection in life and it deals with life itself. The resurrection of Christ, His rising from death to life, is the cornerstone of Christian faith and the wellspring of life-giving power.
So, to answer the question posed in the headline, yes, my game needs to be resurrected. But, even more, I am in need of a daily resurrection: a resurrection to change what I cannot change myself, to be what I am unable to become through my own efforts, and to accept the trophy of eternal life that I cannot earn, but will faithfully grasp.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.” John 11:25
Photo interpretation: though your game my go up in flames, Christ gives us a resurrection life.
