Want good news for your tennis game? What would this good news sound like?

Try this on for size.

You will no longer be brokenhearted after losses, feel oppressed, or captive to bad habits. You will be released from unproductive emotions and will find comfort in small victories. After a match you will wear the garland of victory and be praised by the gallery. Your serve would be so devastating to opponents that you will wear the mantle of praise. Advertisers would flock to you, robing you in the finest tennis garments and adorning you with the jewels of accomplishment. Your fame will be known, far and wide, and everyone will acknowledge your great athletic gifts.

If this sounds too good to be true, it probably is. However, this same good news can be yours in a different way for a different reason. Isaiah 61 begins with “…the Lord has sent me to bring good news…”

All the adjectives and verbs used above come from this passage. This means that the game you call your life can be redeemed. It will be a new game, a better game because the Spirit of the Lord is upon you. Allow this Spirit to saturate your life and your game will, indeed, be much improved.

(Image interpretation: This is a classic painting of the prophet Isaiah writing on a large scroll. Isaiah was sent by God as a voice to the southern kingdom of Judah to proclaim God’s judgment to a nation that had fallen into sin, but also as a voice of comfort, redemption, and deliverance. The connection to my website is to focus on the promises of God to help us change minor things, like tennis woes, but, most importantly, to be reclaimed into a joyful relationship with God. The inclusion of a tennis ball in the image is meant to connect with the tennis/Bible theme of the website and not to denigrate the Prophet or his message.)
